How to delete Child object via MIF
I want to delete Child objects for a given Parent object via MIF Enterprise Service (using interface table)

For Maximo 7.1.1.6:

Say I have within Maximo a PARENT and CHILD table/object (one to many type of relationship).  How can I configure the MIF Enterprise Service using interface tables so that I can send deletes of some of the CHILD table records but not all of them and still keep the PARENT table record?

This doesn’t seem to me to be obvious when reading the Integration Guide for IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.1.

Is there a special way to populate the interface data table or the interface queue table (MXIN_INTER_TRANS)?  Or, does this require coding an inbound processing class for the object structure?

Okay, I’ll answer my own question; hopefully, others looking for this answer will find this thread.

According to the IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.1 Integration Guide, if you are using a parent-child type of object structure, one way to go about “deleting” child objects on an inbound interface based using interface tables is to specify a Replace action (in MXIN_INTER_TRANS) and in the IFACE table, make sure to insert records for all children objects that you want to keep (and do not insert records for the child objects you are targeting for deletion).

If you have further questions, or want some clarification, please reply to this thread and I’ll try to answer to the best of my abilities.

Hope this helps.
