Does my organization need to purchase IBM “mobile” licenses as well as EZMaxMobile licenses?
No. You already have registered and licensed Maximo users so you do not need to buy any IBM “mobile” related licenses to purchase EZMaxMobile licenses. For example, if your users are already logging into Maximo with their own credentials from a full desktop browser, then you only need to buy EZMaxMobile licenses to mobilize those users. Nothing else needs to be purchased from IBM.
Do I need to purchase all full access users for use with EZMaxMobile?
No. The license option you have with IBM stays intact whether you have an Authorized User, Limited Use, Express User license or any grandfathered license agreement you currently have with IBM. If a user has an IBM Maximo Limited Use license, when they login to EZMaxMobile, they will have the same exact access as if they access Maximo from a full desktop browser. Is EZMaxMobile compliant with IBM licensing?
Yes. EZMaxMobile is 100% compliant with IBM licensing. In fact, EZMaxMobile uses your existing Maximo User Security settings without any configuration out-of-the-box and ensures that you stay compliant with IBM licensing. Most of our clients are looking to mobilize existing users in Maximo, so you only need to purchase EZMaxMobile user licenses to mobilize those users. According to the IBM Maximo Software License Agreement (SLA), if ANY mobile solution (including IBM’s mobile offerings) does not enforce this requirement and allows a mobile user to interact with Maximo without a valid registered Maximo user license, then that client is in violation of the SLA and may be subject to an audit and fine.
What versions of Maximo does EZMaxMobile Support?
EZMaxMobile supports Maximo versions 7.1.x through 7.6.x.
Why can’t I just use the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF)/OSLC for my mobile users instead of EZMaxMobile? If I use the MIF/OSLC, does it require the mobile user be a registered Maximo user?
Yes you can. But aside from the technical limitations of using the MIF/OSLC for enterprise mobility, each mobile user must still be a registered Maximo user according to the IBM software license agreement. This includes IBM Maximo Anywhere or any other mobile solution that uses the MIF/OSLC to commit transactions to Maximo. Customers who are looking at Maximo Anywhere as a mobile option, have been told that they “only need to buy a Maximo Anywhere license” but that is misleading because that statement means that a Maximo Express User license is already included in the cost of that Anywhere license.
“Authorized User is a unit of measure by which the Program can be licensed. An Authorized User is a unique person who is given access to the Program. The Program may be installed on any number of computers or servers and each Authorized User may have simultaneous access to any number of instances of the Program at one time. Licensee must obtain separate, dedicated entitlements for each Authorized User given access to the Program in any manner directly or indirectly (for example: via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means. An entitlement for an Authorized User is unique to that Authorized User and may not be shared, nor may it be reassigned other than for the permanent transfer of the Authorized User entitlement to another person.” [See here under “licensing metric definitions”]
This is straight from the IBM software license agreement and it clearly states that “each Authorized User given access to the program in any manner directly or indirectly through any means” requires a license. You also cannot “share” a license and by default, the MIF/OSLC uses a single integration admin user account named MXINTADM to commit transactions to Maximo and if mobile users don’t have an account, this may violate your agreement with IBM.
Are Maximo Industry Solutions supported in EZMaxMobile?
Yes. EZMaxMobile supports all industry solutions such as Oil & Gas, Transportation, Utilities and more. All without a separate license cost from EZMaxMobile, so features like Calibrations are included at no extra cost or separate license fee.
Do I need a separate physical server to run EZMaxMobile?
Depending on how many users are going to be using mobile, you do not need a separate server to host EZMaxMobile. If you have 200+ mobile users, it’s recommended that you have a separate mobile server.
How long does it take to install?
You can install EZMaxMobile in less than 30 minutes. We don’t configure or change anything in your Maximo environment and you don’t need a separate server. Once installed, you will have access to 20+ applications out-of-the-box.
